Das Lied handelt vom Kampf der Roten Armee gegen die Provisorische Amur-Regierung unter der Führung des zaristischen Generals Wiktor Moltschanow am Ende des Russischen Bürgerkriegs in den Gebieten um Spassk-Dalni, Wolotschajewka Perwaja und Wladiwostok. Hierbei wird insbesondere der Sturm auf Wolotschajewka (in deutschen Versionen teils falsch als Wolotschajewska) vom 12. Februar 1922 unter Beteiligung der Partisanen besungen (volksliederarchiv.de).

L'adattamento del canto in lingua spagnola, intitolato Por montañas y praderas, è del 1969 e è dovuto al celebre gruppo cileno dei Quilapayún, capisaldi della Nueva canción chilena assieme agli Inti-Illimani e alla famiglia Parra. La versione fu pubblicata nell'album Basta (che contiene, tra le altre cose, anche una versione di Bella Ciao. L'adattamento è piuttosto fedele, ma al posto dell' "Oceano Pacifico" dell'originale, il testo prorompe in un sudamericanissimo ¡Viva la Revolución!. [RV]

Po šumama i gorama, cui finora era dedicata una (peraltro trascurata) pagina del sito che è stata qui integrata e eliminata, è la versione jugoslava partigiana di По долинам и по взгорьям e, al tempo stesso, forse la più celebre versione del canto russo in assoluto. Questo perché è senz'altro il principale canto partigiano titoista jugoslavo dell'epoca della II guerra mondiale. Lo indico come “jugoslavo” perché le sue versioni riflettono le lievi varianti linguistiche (serbe, croate...) di quel sistema linguistico comune che, fino a trent'anni fa, veniva chiamata “serbocroato”. In 1908, another Warszavianka version titled Puolan työväen marssi (Polish Workers' March) was published in J. Kaikka's broadside ballad collection Työväenlauluja (Working Class Songs). In the same year, the lyrics of the song, written by an unknown author and reading »Wihurit wihaisna taas waikeroi« (Strong rushes of wind angrily moan), were published in a Social Democratic songbook and a song booklet for workers with the title Puolan veripäivien marssi (Polish Blood-Days March). Slightly altered and with one stanza added, the same lyrics were published eleven years later in Punaisen sotilaan laulukirja (A Red Soldier's Songbook, St. Petersburg, 1919) by Elvira Willman-Eloranta (1875-1925), this time with the title Varsovalainen (The Varsovian). İşçinin Sesi was an official fortnightly magazine of TKP (Türkiye Komünist Partisi, the Turkish Communist Party). Publication started in January 1974 and ended with number 474 in September 2000. This version is characterized by strong struggle and revolutionary accents, reflecting the civil war-like atmosphere of 1980 Turkey, few months before the military coup of 12 September 1980 lead by general Kenan Evren. La prima di "100 Meter Glück" ebbe luogo al Metropol-Theater di Berlino (nel quartiere Mitte) il 31 dicembre 1932.
Gli interpreti principali furono Erika Von Thellmann, cantante ed attrice austriaca, e Max Hansen, tenore danese.
