incubo n4 caselli("Monaldi-Ingrosso")
(1967)

e dovevo sparare
ho sognato di fare la guerra
ma non posso più odiare
ho sognato che cadeva la pioggia
e non la potevo fermare
e sulle strade correvano carri armati
e non c'erano voci di bimbi
a giocare nei prati
e non c'erano voci di donne
a parlare d'amore
ma soltanto sirene, sirene
ad urlare il terrore

Really come on, come on
Really come on, come on
ma con l'alba i sogni muoiono
sorge il sole spazzerà
le ombre nere dei miei incubi
che non sono realtà
realtà

La speranza è un fiume limpido
e la luce è un vento che
porterà tutti i miei incubi
via lontano da me
da me

Really come on, come on
Really come on, come on

Ho sognato di vedere un tramonto
di case incendiate
ho sognato che il sole bruciava
e non era d'estate
e i juke-box non cantavano più
le canzoni d'amore
e non c'era la voce del vento
a cullare ogni fiore
ma soltanto sirene, sirene
ad urlare il terrore.

NIGHTMARE NUMBER FOUR

I dreamed I was an Indian
and I was starving to death
I dreamed I was a gun
and I had to fire
I dreamed I was making war
but I can't hate any more
I dreamed the rain was falling
and I couldn't stop it
and tanks ran across the streets
and there were no children's voices
playing in the gardens
and there were no women's voices
talking of love
but only sirens, sirens
yelping terror

Really come on, come on
Really come on, come on
but dreams die at dawn
the daybreak's going to wipe out
the black shadows of my dreams
no they won't come true
come true

Hope is a clear river
and light is a wind
blowing all my nightmares away
blowing them away from me
from me

Really come on, come on
Really come on, come on

I dreamed I could see a sunset
of houses set afire
I dreamed the sun was burning
but it wasn't in summer
and the juke-boxes weren't playing
love songs any more
and there wasn't the voice of wind
cradling all the flowers
but only sirens, sirens
yelping terror.
