Stelle sul mare

Stelle sul mare
Chanson italienne – Stelle sul mare – Modena City Ramblers – 2004

Desert Sunrise

Desert Sunrise
2008

The song was originally written by their lead vocalist, Lynx, for a compilation put out to benefit Iraq Veterans Against the War and was based on first-person accounts from anti-war veterans of what it was like to be in Iraq as a member of the occupying army, all the while knowing that the war and the occupation are wrong. A solo version of it was published on the compilation 'A Line In the Sand', released by Wild Stallion Records in August 2007. The bands version is on their second album, Liberty.

Testo trascritto all'ascolto

seduti in casa, in rete ormai connessi
pronti a veder la guerra americana
uomini veri, forti mica fessi
tirati a specchio, la salute sana,
marciano allegri fieri di se stessi
l'occhiale al naso in testa la bandana.
oh quanto diventar vorrei soldato!
peccato solo è tanto che son nato

toccando la tastiera un colpo ho dato
senza volerlo e senza intendimento

(Continues)

Ballad Of Denshaw Mill

Ballad Of Denshaw Mill
Album: Caught In The Light (1993)

Written by John Lees, this song is based on a Saddleworth legend which has its basis in fact. Denshaw Mill was a woollen mill which operated until the late 1880s, and was already derelict by the time of the first war, when the events described in the song took place. The line "a hole as rotten as ever fouled the green earth" is from a verse by local poet Ammon Wrigley, and the area is part of the Friarmere division of Saddleworth, known locally as the Darkside.

(Continues)
