Gypsy punks: underdog world strike

Basically, it's an anti-war song- "that war/it never stops!" But it's more than that. He manages to dissect not only the roots of where war exists in our culture but also the helplessness of such understanding (nobody listens, nobody cares) while maintaining an advisory stature. Are we the only light there is? For ourselves we are. Hopeless? Not if you take care of your own.

Baby I'm A Soldier

The son of Egyptian immigrants, Kareem was born and raised in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He spent his childhood immersed in Western United States culture, attending Rodeos and Pow Wows, while simultaneously learning his family's roots in Islam and Arabic culture. With a degree in Chemical Engineering and recenlty finishing Law School, he's on the road promoting his new album, "Generous Peace".

His voice is robust, sexy, and All-American Country soundin'. I love him! His musical sound is open-chord guitar with a lot of grounded piano sound supporting it. His lyrics are not officially "muslim" or "nasheeds" (Islamic gospel songs), but the subject matter is definitely "Halal" (ie for you non-muslims reading this, Halal means religiously permissible, as in the subject matter is about living a good life, it's not about forbidden things and isn't leading the listener to sin - not about adultery, greed, alcohol, or other illicit/amoral activities).

Avrai

L'uomo a metà

Shoot High, Aim Low

[1987]
Lyrics by Jon Anderson and Trevor Rabin
Music by Yes
Testo di Jon Anderson e Trevor Rabin
Musica: Yes
Album: Big Generator

"Shoot High, Aim Low" is a song by Yes. It appears on the 1987 Big Generator album. The song appears to have never released as a single, but reached position #11 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart in the '80s. It appeared on every show on the Big Generator tour, but nowhere else to date.

The song, according to Jon Anderson's announcements prior to the song on many shows of the tour, the song is about war; specifically, a future in which mankind will live beyond war. In most of these announcements, Anderson explains that the "blue fields" mentioned in the first line are in Nicaragua - at the time the album was being worked on, a legal battle between the U.S. and Nicaragua had occurred over the U.S. aiding guerrillas against the Nicaraguan government.

The River Is Flowing

The Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp Songbook

Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp was a peace camp established to protest at nuclear weapon being sited at RAF Greenham Common in Berkshire, England. The camp began in September 1981 after a Welsh group called "Women for Life on Earth" arrived at Greenham to protest against the decision of the Government to allow cruise missiles to be based there.

On 1 April 1983, tens of thousands of protestors formed a 14 mile human chain from Greenham to the Aldermaston nuclear power station and the ordnance factory at Burghfield.

On 4 April 1984, the women were evicted from the Common by Newbury District Council. However by nightfall the women all returned to reform the camp.

The last missiles left the camp in 1991 but the camp remained in place until 2000 after protestors won the right to house a memorial on the site.

Siamo molto felici e contenti.
