Furono censite alla fine del XIX secolo. Una raccolta più sistematica fu fatta negli anni ’50 del secolo scorso; conta 400 Villotte. I temi sono i più disparati: dall’amore all’emigrazione alla guerra, ma anche l’amore, la protesta, la satira.
La melodia proposta tocca il tema dell’emigrazione. Il dolore della coppia nell’addio sembra dissolversi nel canto sommesso e profondo come un universo pittorico nell’eternità di un momento.

Po šumama i gorama, cui finora era dedicata una (peraltro trascurata) pagina del sito che è stata qui integrata e eliminata, è la versione jugoslava partigiana di По долинам и по взгорьям e, al tempo stesso, forse la più celebre versione del canto russo in assoluto. Questo perché è senz'altro il principale canto partigiano titoista jugoslavo dell'epoca della II guerra mondiale. Lo indico come “jugoslavo” perché le sue versioni riflettono le lievi varianti linguistiche (serbe, croate...) di quel sistema linguistico comune che, fino a trent'anni fa, veniva chiamata “serbocroato”.
