Quando si ha a che fare, in “Rete”, con Enrico il Laborioso (questo sarebbe l’italiano per “Erich Mühsam”), è, appunto, sempre assai laborioso riuscire a determinare in quale anno una sua poesia è stata scritta. Così per questa poesia, poi musicata e cantata dal cantautore Christoph Holzhöfer nel 2011. Appare chiaro che Erich Mühsam debba averla scritta mentre si trovava in galera; solo che, a partire dal 1919, in galera c’era stato parecchie volte. Dopo la fine della Räterepublik bavarese, fu accusato di “alto tradimento” e condannato a 15 anni di reclusione; fu però liberato dopo cinque anni riprendendo la sua attività, finché, nel 1933, dopo l’ascesa alla cancelleria di Adolf Hitler e l’incendio del Reichstag, fu di nuovo arrestato e rinchiuso, in condizioni... facility at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Supporters of human rights and due process are today joining together from all corners of the world to mark the event in the form of protests and peaceful actions. In Australia, Dr. Aloysia Brooks, torture prevention advocate, and songwriter and human rights advocate, Les Thomas, have released the song ‘Guantanamo Blues’, and included an open letter (below) to President Barack Obama calling for him to close Guantanamo, restore due process and human rights.
The song was written to raise awareness about the ongoing situation of those detained in the facility. Most of the 127 prisoners that remain have been cleared for release, but remain imprisoned without charge or trial. ‘Nine hours’ is again an incredible song where Ciaran, in jail for Republican activities, is given nine hours compassionate leave to attend the funeral of his father. During the song Ciarán recalls childhood fishing trips with his Da and the history he taught him of the places they visited while he follows his Dads coffin in utter personal agony, regretting years of non contact. Nine hours later that day a steel door slams shut and that’s fucking it.

But life is cruel and sometimes twisted,
like their judges and it seems.

You’re the one
‘Another Wasted Life’ was actually written after I heard of the story of Kalief Browder, who was put into solitary confinement after not having been charged for a crime. When he was released, it wasn’t too much longer after that he committed suicide.
It obviously fits very squarely into the mission that I’ve had for a very long time. It’s one that I hope will bring more attention to the plight of exonerated men who are still stuck in prison because somebody wanted to close a case or because somebody lied and fingered them, or just because once you’re in, they don’t want you to get out.

The Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp Songbook
Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp was a peace camp established to protest at nuclear weapon being sited at RAF Greenham Common in Berkshire, England. The camp began in September 1981 after a Welsh group called "Women for Life on Earth" arrived at Greenham to protest against the decision of the Government to allow cruise missiles to be based there.
On 1 April 1983, tens of thousands of protestors formed a 14 mile human chain from Greenham to the Aldermaston nuclear power station and the ordnance factory at Burghfield.
On 4 April 1984, the women were evicted from the Common by Newbury District Council. However by nightfall the women all returned to reform the camp.
The last missiles left the camp in 1991 but the camp remained in place until 2000 after protestors won the right to house a memorial on the site.

Ballade vom gut Kirschenessen
Chanson allemande – Ballade vom gut Kirschenessen – Wolf Biermann – 1989-90
Le Mur était tombé depuis peu et en février 1990, lors d’un concert à Altona, Hambourg (la ville du martyr antifasciste Bruno Tesch et des nombreux autres qui ont été tués par les nazis durant l’été 1932), Wolf Biermann chanta, entre autres, cette belle ballade dédiée à un de ses amis, également martyr du totalitarisme : Robert Havemann.
Robert Havemann (1910-1982) était chimiste. À l’avènement du nazisme, il était déjà chercheur universitaire à l’Institut Kaiser Wilhelm. Pas de chance, Robert Havemann était communiste, et pas seulement cela ; il devint rapidement un membre actif de la Widerstand, la résistance allemande. Arrêté par la Gestapo en 1943, il fut condamné à mort, mais l’exécution de la sentence fut continuellement reportée, grâce à l’intercession de certains de ses anciens collègues qui firent croire... Mi sembra terribile che non si possa ascoltare questa canzone. Conosco questa interpretazione che avevo sentito in Bretagna, credo tra il 2013 e il 2014, l'arrangiamento stupendo di Ronan Pellen la rende contemporanea anche musicalmente, all'epoca la immaginai con la voce di Gabriel Yacoub...nessuno potrebbe dubitare che si tratti di un tradizionale, fino alle ultime strofe, naturalmente...dal cantato si evince chiaramente che nella traduzione di Riccardo va tolto il punto tra le frasi "per tutta quanta la città. C'erano delle vedove"

1981-2021: SCIOPERI DELLA FAME E LOTTA DI CLASSE

Ormai manca poco. L'anno prossimo cadrà il 40° anniversario della morte atroce- in sciopero della fame – di Bobby Sands e altri nove prigionieri repubblicani irlandesi. Contemporaneamente perdeva la vita in una prigione spagnola il militante dei Grapo Juan José Crespo Galende, basco.
E vorrei qui ricordare un altro triste anniversario. Quello della morte di Barry Horne, anarchico e antispecista, militante dell'ALF. Morto nel novembre 2001 sempre per le conseguenze di alcuni lunghi scioperi della fame contro la vivisezione. Un riferimento non casuale in quanto il compagno Barry Horne (un lavoratore – spazzino - padre di sue figli) aveva iniziato il suo impegno politico, oltre che nei movimenti antifascisti, proprio nei comitati di sostegno (sorti anche in Gran Bretagna) alla causa irlandese e agli hunger strikers del 1981... Coerentemente con i principi umanitari del Confederalismo democratico, i Curdi in Rojava avevano già abolito la pena di morte . Perfino per quei brutali tagliagole di Daesh/isis..
Il carcere va abolito
Dovrebbe rieducare e invece serve solo a punire, aumentano i suicidi e i casi di recidivi. Anche se nella mentalità collettiva non è immaginabile una pena che prescinda dalla reclusione, non è sempre stato così. Leggi

W la libertà est un mini-LP publié par Drums Edizioni Musicali en 1986. qui rassemble quatre titres enregistrés par Zauber avec le trio vocal de Mirage (produit par Zauber lui-même). Le disque est la suite naturelle de « Profumo di Rovina » (« Dix chansons de Ferrante Aporti » de 1985), dans ce cas-ci dédié cependant à la section féminine. On peut lire sur la couverture que « Viva la libertà » ainsi que « Profumo di Rovina » (1985), est une anthologie discographique de chansons écrites par des détenus. Contrairement au précédent disque, cependant, elle ne recueille que des compositions de filles et est confiée à l’interprétation d’un seul groupe, Mirage.

Dopo una lunga riflessione e avendo finalmente trovato il bel commento di Maila Pentucci, approviamo questa storica canzone dei Gang ringraziando Lucone per averla proposta.
Inserimento senz'altro controverso, ma se ci sta Nebraska ci possono stare anche Johnny e Virna.
Come scriveva Alessandro Pontelli nell'introduzione al disco: "Non tutti i 'banditi' del pantheon dei Gang mi stanno simpatici - ma forse non esistono banditi senza tempo, ogni tempo ha i banditi che si merita". Ecco Giuseppe Mastini non è certamente tra i banditi che ci possono ispirare simpatia, ma la sua dura storia di emarginazione, violenza e galera può e deve essere raccontata.

Terra
Fu su quella rivista – gliel’aveva portata di straforo sua moglie Dedé – che Caetano vide la foto della Terra vista dallo spazio. Scrisse allora i versi di una delle sue canzoni più belle, Terra, con lo sguardo lontano di un marinaio prigioniero come l’astronauta di David Bowie. Avere di nuovo tra le mani quella rivista oggi è un momento di intensa emozione. Nel documentario, costantemente in primo piano, Caetano la sfoglia e gli occhi si bagnano di lacrime. La voce gli si incrinerà definitivamente più avanti, nell’evocazione del sergente che aprì la porta delle cella a Dedé, e l’amore consumato nello squallore del carcere tra le grida lontane dei torturati.

Caro Riccardo Gullotta, ti ringrazio della considerazione, quello che penso io è che sarebbe sufficente dibattere i questiti aperti da questa pagina per entrarci e non uscirne più, ogni filo creerebbe altri fili da seguire che a sua volta ne aprirebbe ancora altri a non finire, fino a.....hai presente la tela della ragnatela di Gaber?!
La canzone ha l'unico scopo di emozionare e se ci riesce siamo a posto. Il resto sono chiacchiere. E per emozionare ha bisogno dell'ascoltatore più che del compositore. A volte può sembrare impossibile che tutti non provino quello che provi tu davanti ad un'opera d'arte. Poi vedi che uno dice le stesse cose davanti a qualcosa che a te non fa nè caldo nè freddo e questo dovrebbe almeno insegnare la tolleranza.
Io mi sono emozionato in maniera totale da adolescente quando ho ascoltato la voce di Cohen e non capivo una parola di inglese, la musica era composta... (Continues)
