A voi Roma. Viernarì unnice aprile 'a Sant'Anastasia n'u tratto 'nu rummore sentiett' 'e ch' paura. Je ascevo 'a faticà manc'a forza 'e cammenà p'à via addumandà: 'sta botta che sarrà. In Masseria Romano a plant has gone off, there were people running away and others shedding tears Some came in, some came out for fear of other explosions but when I came to the gate, my god, I saw a dreadful massacre I decided to get inside and I nearly fainted: I saw a head on the ground with no body attached to I walked in deep sadness, I turned, and on the fencing I saw two workers who were burnt to death. Then their families arrived and all those poor people wept and cried in despair for their lost sons. “Where is my son? Please help me find him, help me for mercy's sake, he sure must be there”. “Please madam don't cry, maybe he's survived”, but then his mom turns and sees him as he's picked up from the ground... Twelve were the victims, their families are desperate. But one couldn't be found, his mom can't find comfort. The coffins were brought in and we went to the church to give our last greeting to our poor unlucky comrades We were handed all the telegrams and letters of condolence sent with courtesy. But we buried them with a deep wrath inside our hearts, and we swore on these dead that you have to pay for them. For them who go to work and even have to face death, we are dying day by day and blame is on the masters. How much time shall we wait to see these gentlemen in jail, those who make us work with constant risk of dying? These heartless persons are now trying to hide all the mistakes they make under an Italian flag! But you don't understand all the pain we feel inside and cover with your flags these twelve workers! But we did become aware: let's change these colors! Let's take these masters and let's fuck them off! And in all our despair let's take fascists and masters, let's put them in a heap and burn them in fire! Sure the time has come to change everything, we have great guidance, it is the red flag. Comrades, in this struggle we shall have no mercy, and this is the truth: Communism is liberty. |
