I Mother Love Bone erano un promettente gruppo rock di Seattle, quando ancora il grunge non era ufficialmente nato, che avevano riscosso un notevole successo grazie alla voce e all'incredibile presenza scenica del cantante Andrew Wood. Purtroppo pochi giorni prima della pubblicazione del loro primo album Wood viene trovato nel suo appartamento riverso sul letto in coma da overdose e muore tre giorni dopo.
Alcuni componenti dei Mother Love Bone entreranno a far parte dei Temple of the Dog e poi del gruppo che ha fatto la storia della musica di Seattle, i Pearl Jam.
Dall'unico album dei Mother Love Bone proviene questa Stardog Champion che può suonare come un inno patriottico nel sound ma è invece tutto il contrario, il padre del protagonista è un eroe di guerra, e riposa in West Virginia...
