É una versione tedesca non letterale ma cantabile in tedesco che ho scritto già nei primi anni ottanta, un po' modificata adesso, nel 2010, grazie alle informazioni del sito "Canzoni contro la guerra" che per fortuna ho trovato cercando dei fatti più esatti sulla Guerra di Valois ed il Signor de Vly.
Dies ist eine deutsche Fassung, die nicht wörtlich, aber in Deutsch singbar ist. Ich habe sie schon in den frühen 80-er Jahren verfasst und jetzt leicht verändert aufgrund der Informationen der Website "Canzoni contro la guerra", welche ich glücklicherweise gefunden habe, als ich Genaueres über den Hundertjährigen Krieg und den Herrn von Vly suchte.

Sur ce site, sont déjà présentes deux chansons provenant de Sudadio Giudabestia, l'œuvre collective qu'Ivan Della Mea et sa bande de « pirates » (que j'ai eu la chance de connaître) écrivirent et mirent en scène en 1979 : il s'agissait de Storia di un cane et Sebastiano. Obligatoirement, tout le Sudadio devrait être inséré. Peu importe comment, et sous n'importe quel prétexte; petit à petit, il en sera ainsi. Entretemps, en insérant cette chanson magistrale que Ivan martelait presque en un crescendo rossinien, avec sa voix inépuisable nonobstant les neuf mille cigarettes par jour qu'il fumait ou d'autres choses du genre, je prends l'occasion de parler un peu mieux du Sudadio et de Rita qui en est la figure centrale.

This song appears on the Killers’ debut album "Hot Fuss". It was released as the third single in 2004 in the U.K. and as the fourth single in the States. The single peaked at 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 and at 18 in the UK Singles Chart. It was the only song the band performed at Live 8. This song appears on the Killers’ debut album "Hot Fuss". It was released as the third single in 2004 in the U.K. and as the fourth single in the States. Dopo aver visto alla televisione "C'era una volta la città del matti", mi è venuta voglia di riascoltare questa canzone e ho capito subito che avrei potuto trovarla in questo sito.

La canzone è stata reinterpretata nel 2009 da Fiorella Mannoia ed estratta come primo singolo dall'omonimo album di cover. Il singolo è entrato in rotazione radiofonica a partire dal 6 novembre 2009. Del brano è stato realizzato anche un videoclip per la regia di Gaetano Morbioli.

In September 1959, 47 men lost their lives in a coal mine near the town of Auchengeich when a faulty fan purifying the air in the colliery went on fire due to an electrical fault. The men were in bogies travelling to the coal face to start work, and due to the intense smoke they were abandoned just a few hundred yards from safety. The mine was eventually flooded to put out the fire; there was only one survivor from the crews. The Mining accident was one of the worst within the UK in the 20th century, widowing 41 women and leaving 76 children without a father.
In September 2009, a memorial was erected by the Auchengeich Miners Welfare honouring the forty-seven men who lost their lives in the Auchengeich mining disaster of 18 September, 1959. In the early hours of 19 November, 2009, part of the memorial – an uninsured bronze representation of a miner, worth between £35,000 and £40,000 – was stolen…

Décidément, Marco Valdo M.I. mon ami, les titres de tes canzones sont souvent bien étranges ou inattendus... Celui-ci est porteur d'une poésie lointaine qui me ravit tellement... On a comme une sensation d'immenses espaces un peu déserts et où le vent ramasse en un parfum unique le thym, la menthe, le pin, la rose et l'odeur puissante de la lavande et du mimosa. Mille couleurs envahissent ma bouche et mille saveurs tourbillonnent en ma pauvre tête d'âne soudain éwaré. Tony & Nelly erano Tony Cucchiara e la moglie Nelly Fioramonti, morta di parto a 34 anni il 19 maggio 1973. A proposito di questa versione (che, comunque, è cronologicamente la prima in italiano delle tante che se ne sono avute) scrive Alberto Truffi in Musica e Memoria:
"Versione italiana decisamente infedele, ennesimo "crimine musicale" anni '60 a cura del paroliere Francesco Specchia e dei maggiormente incolpevoli Tony Cucchiara e Nelly Fioramonti, alias Tony & Nelly, ai danni del cantautore folk Phil Ochs e di una delle sue più note canzoni, There But For Fortune (dal link la traduzione del celebre testo originale) per questo loro esordio quasi folk.
