Non uccidere

Non uccidere
(Colombini-Scoponi)
I Barritas: Non uccidere / Introito (1968)

Dividing You

Dividing You
[2004]
Testo e musica di Daniel Gannaway
Lyrics and music by Daniel Gannaway

"The song was inspired by John Howard and the Australian Government's actions over the 438 Afghan refugees trapped at sea in September 2001, and the Australian governments reaction and treatment. The asylum seekers were stranded at sea for more than a week after the Norwegian ship Tampa rescued them from the sinking Indonesian ferry they were aboard on 26 August. It took them to Christmas Island but Australia refused to let them land. They were taken to Papua New Guinea to be flown to New Zealand and the South Pacific island of Nauru for the processing of their asylum claims." -Daniel Gannaway.

Democracy

[2004]

Testo ripreso da:
Lyrics available at:
http://polsong.gcal.ac.uk/songs/rev12.html

"After the WMD claim fizzled and evaporated as a justification for the Iraq war, America's leadership began trumpeting the case for spreading democracy throughout the world. Billions are spent rebuilding the cities and infrastructure we destroyed in Iraq. Meanwhile, American schools are crumbling, our roads are filled with holes, our urban centers are decaying, and millions and millions of American children are uninsured and cannot afford health care. Our own election process (in 2000) was marred by more inconsistencies and dubious dealing that one can count. And we are planning on spreading this democracy across the globe. Two of my fellow artists and I decided to collaborate to question this. What sort of democracy do we have here? Do we really have a say in our government? Or is this a plutocracy, an aristocracy? This song wouldn't have been possible without great verses from E. Rich and J-High, also emcees from upstate New York." -Rev1.

Jackaroe

Anonymous
[XVIII sec. / 18th century]

(Continues)

Testo e musica di Peter Kastner
Lyrics and Music by Peter Kastner

Testo ripreso da:
Lyrics available at:
http://polsong.gcal.ac.uk/songs/kastne...

OPEN LETTER TO PAUL FABER, TOWN COUNCILLOR

An excerpt from Boris Vian's open letter to the Paris town councillor Paul Faber (English translation by Riccardo Venturi)
No, Mr Faber, you should not look for an insult where it does not exist and, if you should find it, it is you who have put it there, I tell you. What I exactly mean does not allow misunderstanding: I have never wished to offend the veterans from both world wars, the Partisans (I have many friends among them) and the Victims of the war (and, among them, I had many friends, too). My insults are always frank and open-hearted, though very rare. I shall never insult people like myself, civilians who have been given a uniform only to be killed as things, and nothing more, and who have had their heads filled with empty words and pointless excuses. Only an idiot, not a hero, fights without knowing what is the fight for; a hero is he, who accepts death if he knows that it will be useful to the values... (Continues)

The song is included in this website since summer 2005 and was reproduced from this page from Salvör Gissurardóttir's website,... (Continues)
