The Pied Piper Of Crawford

Copyright 2003 Sheryl Zettner

Maria Larson on guitar (Recorded at Toby's Custom Recording Studios in San Antonio, Texas)

"In late 2002 I started participating regularly in the San Antonio Peace Coalition's attempts to stop the war in Iraq. My mom and I decided to do a radio program, which we did with the help of Trinity University and our friend Deck Yoes. I thought up the song on walk, and Susan Ives of the Peace Coalition put me in touch with guitarist/songwriter Maria Larson so I could actually record it." -Sheryl Zettner.

The World Does Not Hate the USA But It Does Hate The Elitists Who Rule The USA - And Here's Why

Copyright 2004 Gildas

"This song is my contribution to the debate in the U.S.A since 9/11 around the question, 'why does the world seem to hate the U.S.A.?'. My song is written from the perspective of a young underprivileged American with a social conscience and a sense of history." -Gildas.

They Lied

Lyrics and music by Jay Mankita
Testo e musica di Jay Mankita

"The song is a humorous, hard-hitting indictment of the Bush administration's lies, the complicity of the media, plus a short history lesson, an introduction to my mother and a thoughtful analysis of the similarities between our president, and Captain James T. Kirk.

I wrote this song after being frustrated by my mother in July 2004. She really did say something to the effect that if corporate media really was keeping real news from being reported accurately, she would have heard about it." -Jay Mankita.

Trafalgar Square

Lyrics and Music by David Rovics
Testo e musica di David Rovics
David Rovics' Official Website

Album : Songs For Mahmud

On Thursday 20th November 2003, a quarter of a million protestors brought central London to a halt in one of the biggest workday demonstrations ever. The image of a George Bush statue being toppled in Trafalgar Square was flashed round the world by the film crews and photographers and became a universal symbol of opposition to the US president’s visit. -David Rovics.

* Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London was one of the speakers at the demonstration. He was quoted as saying, "Let everyone recognise what has happened here today, that Britain does not support this war for oil. The British people will not tolerate being used to prop up the most corrupt and racist American administration in over 80 years."

Walk Out Of Jerusalem

Jack Chernos
Testo e musica di Jack Chernos
Lyrics and music by Jack Chernos

"This is a song of peace and reconciliation. This is not a song about which party is the oppressor or the oppressed, who is more virtuous, or who has been more wronged - but that does not imply that gross imbalances and injustices do not exist, for they most certainly do (and so the forms and extents of "walking out" must also differ significantly). Jerusalem is not simply a place. It is also a metaphor for histories, cultures, values and ideals. May it soon become the international city of peace its name portends." -Jack Chernos

War's A Game For Power Mongers

Paul Spencer
Lyrics and Music by Paul Spencer
Testo e musica di Paul Spencer

"Shortly before the re-escalation of the Gulf conflict in 2002, a rumour started about the return of conscription in Britain. I had wanted to put the line "War's a game for power mongers" into a song for a year or two and that provided the perfect stimulus. The melody is, in places, quite agitated and desperate." -Paul Spencer.

Weapons For El Salvador (War Is Over)

Arrestato... (Continues)
