Un bel messaggio per le persone nate in paesi poveri, sottosviluppati, sottomessi che devono affrontare i problemi della guerra, la fame, la disperazione...un bel messaggio di incoraggiamento alla lotta, a non arrendersi, a migliorare sempre e comunque per se stessi ma anche per il proprio paese...
Una canzone che ci invita a credere ma soprattutto a sperare in un futuro migliore nonostante sembri che nulla sia cambiato o che si torni indietro o semplicemente che si rimanga sempre fermi allo stesso punto.
È la lotta o la resistenza l'unica cosa che non fa morire la speranza ed è importante che le nuove generazioni siano fiduciose e pronte a cambiare la realtà e le ingiustizie di un paese e perché no del mondo intero...
Da non tralasciare anche l'aspetto critico di questo testo verso i potenti che manovrano i fili accecati dalla sete di potere e dalla avidità.

K'naan, born Keinan Abdi Warsame in 1978, is an amazingly talented Somali-Canadian poet, rapper, singer, songwriter and instrumentalist now based in Toronto, after surviving a harrowing upbringing in war-torn Somalia. He recorded this "cover" version of Bob Dylan's "With God on Our Side", for a compilation album that came out earlier in 2012, Chimes Of Freedom: The Songs Of Bob Dylan Honoring 50 Years Of Amnesty International. K'naan's version of the song with substantially new lyrics, is fantastic, with his own desperate wartime childhood history woven into it..
Designed as a celebration for Amnesty International's 50th Anniversary, Chimes of Freedom is the mother of all tribute albums: a four-disc salute to Bob Dylan that runs some 76 songs performed by singers from all corners of the globe..

A very sad moving story:
This song is about a lost love. When K'naan was a teenager (back in Somalia) fell in love with a girl named Fatima.
However, the girl was sold by her parents.. And then she WAS KILLED in the Somali civil war
"In 2008, with a recording budget, I went on my own to Jamaica, to Bob Marley's old studio, and sang of a lovely, doomed young friend:
«Fatima, I'm in America, I make rhymes and I make 'em delicate, you would have liked the parks in Connecticut... Damn you shooter, damn you the building, whose walls hid the blood she was spilling, damn you country so good at killing, damn you feeling, for persevering».
That was my truest voice – my continent's angst in a personal story. When I sang, my audience wouldn't just hear music; they would see geography. And yes, it made me well known.."
