Berliinin olympialaiset oli määrä pitää vuonna 1916, mutta ensimmäinen maailmasota siirsi ne aina vuoteen 1936, jolloin kansallissosialistit olivat olleet vallassa runsaat kolme vuotta. Hitler halusi saada kisoista mahdollisimman suuren propagandahyödyn. Tätä varten tarvittiin uusi uljas olympiapuisto ja sinne mahtipontinen stadion, jossa oli tilaa peräti 100 000 katsojalle. Stadionin tieltä purettiin vuoden 1916 peruuntuneita kisoja varten rakennettu Deutsches Stadion. Rakentaminen, joka työllisti enimmillään 2 600 ihmistä, aloitettiin vuonna 1934 ja saatiin päätökseen kaksi vuotta myöhemmin. Torturing James Hetfield

"Torturing James Hetfield" is a response to James Hetfield's approval of the use of Metallica's music as a torture device against Iraqi prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. The song was described as depicting a "wonderful image" by Stefan Appleby in BBC Review. Boff Whalley listed the song as one of his favourites in July 2011.
"Torturing James Hetfield" è una risposta alle dichiarazioni di James Hetfield, chitarrista dei Metallica, che si è detto soddisfatto dell'uso della musica del gruppo contro i prigionieri iracheni nel campo di detenzione di Guantanamo Bay.

"Torturing James Hetfield" is a response to James Hetfield's approval of the use of Metallica's music as a torture device against Iraqi prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. The song was described as depicting a "wonderful image" by Stefan Appleby in BBC Review. Boff Whalley listed the song as one of his favourites in July 2011.

"Her Majesty" is a song written by Paul McCartney (although credited to Lennon–McCartney) that appears on the Beatles' album Abbey Road. It is a brief tongue-in-cheek music hall song. "Her Majesty" is the final track of the album and appears fourteen seconds after the song "The End", but was not listed on the original sleeve. The song is about Paul Kelleher, who walked into the Guildhall Art Gallery with a concealed baseball bat, and proceeded to knock the head off a statue of Margaret Thatcher. During his trial he said he had done it because "I am becoming increasingly worried as to what sort of a world I have brought my son (Alfie) into".
On 3 July 2002, Paul Kelleher decapitated a £150,000, eight-foot (2.4 m), 1.8-tonne (2.0-short-ton), marble statue of the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher on display at the Guildhall Art Gallery in central London.
Having unsuccessfully swiped the statue with a Slazenger V600 cricket bat concealed in his trousers, Kelleher used a metal rope support stanchion to decapitate the statue. After the beheading, he waited to be arrested by the police who arrived minutes later. He said on capture, "I think it looks better like that."

"Smash Clause 28! Fight the Alton Bill!" is a 1988 single from anarcho-punk band Chumbawamba on their Agit Prop Records label. It is a benefit record for the London Lesbian and Gay Switchboard and the Women's Reproductive Rights Campaign.
Clause 28, also known as Section 28, was a controversial bill proposed in the United Kingdom to curtail the promotion or acceptance of homosexuality. The Alton Bill was a set of laws designed to make abortion far more restrictive in the United Kingdom. As the song titles suggest, the members of Chumbawamba felt strongly that these movements were not in the best interest of the public.
On the record itself the band shout "Clause 29!", which was accurate at the time of recording. Soon after, the bill was changed to Clause 28.

Fitzwilliam è il nome di una cittadina mineraria del West Yorkshire, "a dirty brown mining town" che dopo la progressiva chiusura dei pozzi, a partire già dalla fine degli anni 60, si era piano piano trasformata in una “ghost town”…

ho provato più volte a inserire questa canzone dei chumbawamba come canzone autonoma, (anche oggi), secondo il principio che se ha diritto di albergo in questo sito rigurgito antifascista, allora anche Enough is enough, che ben meno violenta è di Rigurgito antifascista. Sono pienamente d'accordo con quanto scritto da matteo88, e questa canzone più volte cassata, ci ricorda di non abbassare la guardia contro vecchi e nuovi fascismi, il verso più violento è "Give the fascist man a gunshot" che niente ha di diverso da "se vedo un punto nero ci sparo a vista". Io la inserisco anche qui, decidete voi se darle una dignità autonoma, cancellarla del tutto o metterla qui in appendice

In Memoriam: Margaret Thatcher

Back in 2005, anarchist collective Chumbawumba pre-sold an EP called In Memoriam: Margaret Thatcher which they would keep under wraps until the prime minister passed away. Since Thatcher did pass earlier this week, the band has delivered the EP and is also streaming the release online. Along with that, the band delivered a eulogy:
Let's make it clear: This is a cause to celebrate, to party, to stamp the dirt down. Tomorrow we can carry on shouting and writing and working and singing and striking against the successive governments that have so clearly followed Thatcher's Slash & Burn policies, none more so than the present lot. But for now, we can have a drink and a dance and propose a toast to the demise of someone who blighted so many people's lives for so long.
