ESIK AZ ESŐ, ÁZIK A HEVEDER | THE RAIN IS FALLING, THE GIRTH IS GETTING WET |
| |
Esik az eső, ázik a heveder | The rain is falling, the girth is getting wet |
gyönge lábamat szorítja a kengyel | my weak feet are pinched by the stirrup |
bársony lekötő szorítja lovamat | a velvet halter pinches my horse |
nehéz karabély nyomja a vállamat. | a heavy rifle weighs on my shoulder. |
| |
Megjött a levél fekete pecséttel: | The letter has come with a black seal: |
megjött a muszka százezer emberrel | the Russians have come, a hundred thousand, |
kétszáz ágyúval áll a harc mezején | with two hundred cannons they stay at the battlefield |
így hát, jó anyám, elmasírozok én. | so my good mother, I have to march away. |
| |
Jön egy kapitány hófehér paripán | A captain is coming on a white horse |
fényes kard csillog annak az oldalán | a brilliant sword shines on his side |
kardja megvillan, az ágyú mennydörög | his sword flares up, the cannons are thundering |
szép piros vérem a földre lecsöpög. | my beautiful red blood drips down on the earth. |
