| الشاطئ الاخر Aš šāṭiʾ al’āḳr [1] نحن أهل الشاطئ الآخر بشر يَتعذَّرُ الوصول إليهم مع أنهم قريبون مرئيون ليس لأجسادنا حدود ثابتة ولم يبق في وجوهنا غيرُ النظر فنحن مطرودون من نفوسنا ممنوعون من الإقامة في بلادنا الحقيقية نحن أهل الشاطئ الآخر دمنا يتحدّى الزمن لا يد تقدر أن تمحونا ذلك أن كل ما يُسْكِرُ النفوس أو يبعث فيها النشوة تولَّدَ مِنْ حركاتنا نحن أهل الشاطئ الآخر سجناء مرآتنا الخاصّة يسيل رمل الزمن بين أصابعنا لم نرد أن نستسلم للأحلام مع أنها اكتسبت قلوبنا | THE OTHER BEACH We are the people on the other shore Like human beings who cannot be reached Although they are near, are seen Our bodies have no definite limits We have no other existence except this sight We are expelled from ourselves Prevented from living in our real countries. We are the people on the other shore Our blood defies time No hand can erase us As all that intoxicates the spirit, Raises it to ecstasy, Is elicited from our movements. We are the people on the other shore Prisoners of our own private mirrors The sand of time flows between our fingers We didn’t want to succumb to dreams Though they captured our heart. |

Aš šāṭiʾ al’āḳr
naḥn ʾahl aš šāṭiʾ alʾāḳr
bašr yatʿḏḏaru alwaṣūl ʾilīhm
maʿ ʾanhm qarībūn mariʾyūn
lays laʾjsādnā ḥadūd ṯābta
walm yabq fī wajūhnā ġayru annaḓr
fanḥn maṭrūdūn man nafūsnā
mamnūʿūn man alʾiqāma.
naḥn ʾahl aš šāṭiʾ alʾāḳr
damnā yatḥddā azzamn
lā yad taqdr ʾan tamḥūnā
ḏalk ʾan kal mā yuskiru annafūs
ʾaw yabʿṯ fayhā annašwa
tawllada min ḥarkātnā.
naḥn ʾahl aš šāṭiʾ alʾāḳr
sajnāʾ maraʾātnā alḳāṣṣa
yasīl raml azzamn bayn ʾaṣābʿnā
lam nard ʾan nastslm lalaʾḥlām
maʿ ʾanhā aktsbt qalūbnā
