Mortellement atteint d'une flèche empennée,	Wartkim strzały polotnej ugodzony ciosem,
Un Oiseau déplorait sa triste destinée,	Ptak nieszczęsny, konając, płakał nad swym losem:
Et disait, en souffrant un surcroît de douleur:	«Ludzie! my wam broń w rękę podajemy sami!
»Faut-il contribuer à son propre malheur !	Z naszych skrzydeł rwanemi wzmacniacie piórami
Cruels humains ! vous tirez de nos ailes	Grot morderczy, co świszcząc wśród powietrznych szlaków,
De quoi faire voler ces machines mortelles.	Bieży jak błyskawica, jako grom uderza.
