SOTIRI PETROULA

Eri un figlio del popolo,
difendevi i diritti dell’uomo,
e volevi che sopra ogni viso
apparisse un sorriso.

Nei tuoi occhi,una nuvola
oscurava l’azzurro del cielo,
e per questo levavi il tuo canto,
nell’attesa del vento.

Sotiri Petroula, Sotiri Petroula,
ora canti più forte ancora.
Sotiri Petroula, Sotiri Petroula,
adesso i nani hanno ancora più paura.

Ti hanno teso la trappola
per poterti strappare alla vita;
per poterti schiacciare la voce,
hanno piantato una croce.

Ora sei con Stathopoulos, [1]
sei con Glezos [2], sei con Lambrakis,
sei l’eterna voce del canto
nell’attesa del vento.

Sotiri Petroula, Sotiri Petroula,
ora canti più forte ancora.
Sotiri Petroula, Sotiri Petroula,
adesso i nani hanno ancora più paura.
Adesso i nani hanno ancora più paura.
SOTIRIS PETROULAS [1]

You were a son of the people,
you were defending the human rights,
and you wanted a smile
to appear on every face.

In your eyes,
a cloud was blocking out the blue of the sky,
and that’s why you were letting out your song,
waiting for the wind.

Sotiri Petroula, Sotiri Petroula,
now you sing even louder.
Sotiri Petroula, Sotiri Petroula,
now the midgets are even more afraid.

They set the trap for you,
to rip you from life;
to crush your voice,
they planted a cross.

Now you are together with Stathopoulos,
you are with Glezos, you are with Lambrakis, [2]
you are the eternal voice of the song
waiting for the wind.
