	(1) In questo contesto “Oh Shenandoah” è il fiume, e la ragazza potrebbe essere una qualunque ragazza bianca che vive sulle sponde del fiume di questa valle. In altre versioni infatti viene chiamata Sally (2) ovviamente cantata da marinai che vanno per mare o per i Grandi Laghi, una sorta di grande mare interno sul confine USA-Canada
