IN MEMORIA IN MEMORIA. | IN MEMORY His name was Moammed Sceab Descendant of emirs of nomads suicide because he no longer had a Homeland He loved France and changed name He became Marcel but he wasn't French and he could no longer live in the bell tent of his people where they listened to the singsong of the Koran enjoying a coffee And he couldn't raise the song of his loneliness I accompanied him together with the landlady of the hotel we lived in to Paris to number 5 of Rue de Carmes a declining downhill alley He rests in peace in the cemetery of Ivry a suburb which seems always to be in a day of decomposed fair And maybe I am the only one who still knows he lived. |
