I AM A GIRL OF CONSTANT SORROWRAGAZZA SEMPRE IN PENA

I am a girl of constant sorrow,Sono una ragazza sempre in pena,
I've seen trouble all my days.per tutti i miei giorni ho visto dolore.
I bid farewell to old Kentucky,Do l'addio al vecchio Kentucky,
The state where I was born and raised.lo stato dove sono nata e cresciuta.

My mother, how I hated to leave her,Mia madre, quanto ho odiato lasciarla,
Mother dear who now is dead.la cara mamma che ora è morta.
But I had to go and leave herMa dovevo andar via e lasciarla
So my children could have bread.perché i miei figli avessero il pane.

Perhaps, dear friends, you are wonderin'Forse, cari amici, vi state chiedendo
What the miners eat and wear.quel che mangiano, di che vestono i minatori.
This question I will try to answer,Proverò a rispondere a questa domanda
For I'm sure that it is fair.perché sono sicura che è giusta.

For breakfast we had bulldog gravy,Per colazione bulldog gravy 1,
For supper we had beans and bread.per cena pane e fagioli.
The miners don't have any dinner,I minatori non pranzano,
And a tick of straw they call a bed.e un pagliericcio lo chiamano letto.

Well, we call this hell on earth, friends,Beh, amici, questo lo chiamiamo inferno in terra
I must tell you all goodbye.e devo dire a tutti quanti addio.
Oh, I know you all are hungry,Lo so che tutti voi avete fame,
Oh, my darlin' friends, don't cry.miei cari amici, non piangete.

Bulldog Gravy in pentola.
Bulldog Gravy in pentola.

Attualmente tale pappone per disgraziati sembra essere diventato un "piatto tipico":

bulldogrest
