Versione inglese di Alice Bellesi
TRANSAMERIKA

TRANSAMERIKA

Adiós, duerme tranquilo
porque no termina aquí
la aventura se reemprende
queda intacta la última idea,
y en alguna parte del mondo
hay alguien como tú
que prepara un nuevo viaje
TRANSAMERIKA
TRANSAMERIKA

You left in a great way with Alberto and with the motorbike.
All of us came and bid you farewell
with a wish, a hug, a laugh and a bottle
and the girls with a tear and a kiss.
In the luggage you had two blankets and a little mate,
a wrench number 10 and some wire,
a map, some book, a couple of addresses.
Brothers, go with God!

Notwithstanding fallings and engine breakings,
you have crossed the continent
and eaten a free ride and suffered from cold and hunger
and abandoned the motorbike in scraps.
You spoke with resigned and impassive Indians
with poisoned lungs miners
with lepers buried in hospital, deep in hell
and you brought them in the remembrance with you.

Goodbye, don’t get lost,
stay cheerful as you are.
From Temuco slopes
to Abancay peaks
always keep your eyes wide open,
guard the last idea.
We are preparing to follow you
TRANSAMERIKA

I heard that since then you have become great,
victorious commander and then minister,
that you defied dictators and for yeara you have been fooling them
and now all the world knows you.
But we like thinking back to your will to set off,
to the motorbike loaded to the impossible,
to the jokes of Alberto, to the thirst for adventure:
it is a good way to say liberty.

Goodbye, it is the terminus,
I know you will not return.
At the gorge of river Yuro
the butchers were waiting for you:
they showed you to the journalists,

they said "Here he is, it is him".
The shadow reigns over Valle Grande
TRANSAMERIKA

Goodbye, sleep quiet
because it is not finished here yet,
the adventure has started again.

The lasr idea remains intact
and somewhere in the world
there is somebody like you
who is preparing a new journey
TRANSAMERIKA
