GREY COLUMNS

Long grey columns march into the moor
Workers on lines without ending
Guards to the side, guards stand before
Guards where out pathway is bending

And if our death stands daily by side
And if there's too much to bear now
And if the wind roars on far and wide
The sun in our sky won't go down now!

Long grey columns march into the moor
Workers on lines without ending
Guards to the side, guards stand before
Guards where out pathway is bending

And still the dawn breaks bright in the east
Daylight bursts out like a wonder
Signals and end, from our woe a release
The sun in our sky won't go under!

GRIGIE COLONNE

Grigie colonne marciano alla palude,
Lavoratori in file infinite.

Ci separano fili spinati e terre;

Lavoratori in file infinite.
Guardie di lato, guardie davanti
E guardie anche in fondo alla fila.

Ma ad oriente splende un'alba rossa,
Chiara e luminosa come un miracolo:
Annuncia a tutti la fine della pena,
Per noi il sole non tramonta!
