Στις ερημιές και στα στενά μου στήσανε καρτέρι και μ' επικήρυξαν φονιά εκείνοι που έχουν απονιά κι όσοι κρατούν μαχαίρι.	In the wilderness and the gorges they awaited me in ambush and they denounced me as a murderer those who are merciless and those who bear a knife.
Στους δρόμους και στις αγορές γράψανε τ' όνομά μου σε πανηγύρια και χαρές στον ύπνο μου εφτά φορές μού 'σφαξες την καρδιά μου.	In the streets and market-places they posted my name and festivities and joy in my sleep seven times you slew my heart.
