- it.wikipedia

Quella sera a Milano era caldo,
Ma che caldo che caldo faceva,
"Brigadiere, apra un po' la finestra",
Ad un tratto Pinelli cascò.

"Signor questore, io gliel'ho già detto,
Lo ripeto che sono innocente,
Anarchia non vuol dire bombe
Ma giustizia, amor, libertà."

"Poche storie, confessa Pinelli,
Il tuo amico Valpreda ha parlato,
È l'autore del vile attentato,
E il suo socio, sappiamo, sei tu."

"Impossibile!", grida Pinelli,
"Un compagno non può averlo fatto,
E l'autore di questo misfatto
tra i padroni bisogna cercar".

"Stiamo attenti, indiziato Pinelli,
Questa stanza è già piena di fumo,
Se tu insisti apriam la finestra,
Quattro piani son duri da far."

Quella sera a Milano era caldo,
Ma che caldo, che caldo faceva,
"Brigadiere, apra un po' la finestra",
Ad un tratto Pinelli cascò.

L'hanno ucciso perché era un compagno,
Non importa se era innocente
"Era anarchico e questo ci basta",
Disse Guida, il feroce questor.

C'è un bara e tremila compagni,
Stringevamo le nere bandiere,
In quel giorno l'abbiamo giurato,
Non finisce di certo così.

Calabresi e tu Guida assassini [1]
Che un compagno ci avete ammazzato,
L'Anarchia non avete fermato
Ed il popolo alfin vincerà. [2]

Quella sera a Milano era caldo,
Ma che caldo, che caldo faceva
"Brigadiere, apra un po' la finestra",
Ad un tratto Pinelli cascò.

LA BALLATA DEL PINELLI [BALLATA DELL'ANARCHICO PINELLI, O IL FEROCE QUESTORE GUIDA]

BALLAD OF PINELLI
[BALLAD OF ANARCHIST PINELLI; CRUEL POLICE HEAD GUIDA]

It was so hot that night in Milan,
How hot, how hot it was,
"Sergeant, please, open the window",
A push, and Pinelli fell down.

"Mr Inspector, I told you already,
I repeat that I am not guilty;
Anarchy doesn’t mean bombs
But justice, love and liberty.”

"No more humbug! Confess, Pinelli!
Your friend Valpreda squealed;
He’s the author of this crime,
Sure you are his accomplice."

"That's impossible!", Pinelli shouts,
"A comrade could never do this!
You'd better looking among the masters
For those who committed this crime.

"Watch out, suspect Pinelli,
This room's alredy full of smoke,
If you persist, we’ll open the window,
It's hard falling from the third floor.”

It was so hot that night in Milan,
How hot, how hot it was.
“Sergeant, please, open the window”,
A push, and Pinelli fell down.

They killed him because he was a comrade,
No matter if he was not guilty.
“He was an Anarchist, and that's enough”,
Said Guida, the cruel Police Head.

3,000 comrades followed his coffin,
We all clasped our black flags.
And we all did swear that night
That it wouldn’t end this way.

You murderers, Calabresi and Guida, [1]
You may well have killed our comrade,
But you didn't put a stop to Anarchy,
And the people will triumph one day. [2]

It was so hot that night in Milan,
How hot, how hot it was,
"Sergeant, please, open the window",
A push, and Pinelli fell down.
[1] Var. Guida, Allegra, Pagnozzi, assassini

[2] Var. intera strofa:

E tu Guida, e tu Calabresi,
Se un compagno ci avete ammazzato
Per coprire una strage di stato
Questa lotta più dura sarà.

[1] Var. “You murderers, Guida, Allegra and Pagnozzi”.

[2] Var. of whole verse:

And you, Guida, and you, Calabresi,
If you have killed our comrade
To hide a state organized massacre,
Well, this struggle is going to get harder.
