KARWAN U SINÛR

Karwan ekem u regam dûre
Karwan ekem u regam dûre
Zor etirsim le sinûre

Dostan dellên nekey birroy
Bellam çibkem dill mecibûre

Dilldaranî ser ew xake
Ew xake ciwane rûnake
Çawerrwanin gûllyan bemê
Çiwnike dillyan xor xeminake

Dellên Nergis rengî gorra
Boni gorra, hesitî gorra
Boye kesas u melûle
Le binbrra cêgi gorra

Of Kurdistan, daxekem Kurdistan
Wey lê lê Kurdistan
Giyanekem jînim, of Kurdistan.
THE CARAVAN AND THE BORDER

I am travelling and the road is red
I am travelling and the road is red

I am anxious about the border

Friends ask me not to leave
But I am forced by the needs of my heart

The lovers of this land
The land of light and beauty
Expect me give them flowers
As they are deeply sad

They say Nergis has changed colour [1]
Her fragrance and feelings transformed;
That is why she is sad and dejected
Displaced and uprooted

This has befallen in my Kurdistan
[1] "Nergis" is the name of a flower (narcissus) and also a Kurdish woman’’s name. Symbolically, it is the sign of spring and freedom. In the original Kurdish, the personal pronoun does not indicate whether it is a flower or a woman. I thought that "She" is more appropriate here.
