Come dire, amico: cazzi tuoi. E pensare che ci sono dei pazzi che pensano che l'unica cosa per la quale valga la pena vivere siano proprio quei cazzi! [RV]

“To resist is to create. To create is to resist.” It’s now been 9 years since SLIVER started rocking on Belgian, French, German and Luxemburger scenes ; with always the same idea : using art and creation as resistance, music as a weapon. “Their riot scream floating like a flag,” SLIVER continue to sing their ideas with rockin’ hardcore as a soundtrack (and also in paper “communiqués” distributed for free at gigs and elsewhere). The band has played more than 100 shows in Europe since 1999 (with Feverish, Death Before Disco, Guerilla Poubelle...) and has released 6 self-produced records and now works with the Belgian label we are all liars records (distribution: Bang!) which released their latest EP: “Kamikaze” (reviewed in Rock Sound, Rock One, Abus Dangereux, Shoot me Again, Metalorgie…). As for the texts and ideas of the band, they even crossed the Atlantic Ocean and were noticed by the American writer Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club : “I’ve enjoyed kamikaze, especially the lyrics”) and by various associations such as the one responsible for the Antiwar Songs website. SLIVER are often compared to so-called committed bands such as Refused or hellisforheroes – two bands they had the chance to work with, on a fanzine and on a remix – and to bands whose attitude is more artistic than profit-driven (At the Drive-In, Thursday) and our influences come from literature (Chuck Palahniuk, Bret Easton Ellis, Murakami Ryu, Douglas Coupland), art (Banksy, XXX Prod, Eduardo Recife, Harmony Korine, Larry Clark), and essayists (Michel Onfray, Ruwen Ogien, William Morris, Arnaud Michniak, Peter Watkins). take that pill or die
don’t use butter when cooking
look after your body
watch your weight, watch your weight

find a girl and marry her
two children and a dog not more
on Sunday, mow the grass
always check the door’s closed

never forget to sleep
never forget breathing
the harder you work,
they say, the happier you get

don’t forget you are not able to fly
so stop trying to commit suicide

stop masturbating
only five cigarettes a day
shave everyday of the week
believe in God, he could exist

never ask too many questions
always be nice and polite
try to get some money
and save some for the gravedigging

don’t forget you are not able to fly
so stop trying to commit suicide

they won’t take our lives tonight

MEMENTO MORI

prendi 'sta pillola o muori
niente burro per cucinare
prenditi cura del corpo
occhio al peso, occhio al peso

tròvati una ragazza e sposala
due figli e un cane, non oltre
la domenica cura il prato
controlla sempre se la porta è chiusa

non scordarti di dormire
non scordarti di respirare
più lavori duro, dicono,
e più sarai felice

non scordarti che non puoi volare
e allora smettila di tentare il suicidio

smettila di farti le seghe
solo cinque sigarette al giorno
fatti la barba ogni giorno
credi in Dio, potrebbe esistere

non fare mai troppe domande
sii sempre carino e gentile
cerca di fare un po' di soldi
e serbane un po' per il funerale

non scordarti che non puoi volare
e allora smettila di tentare il suicidio

non ci prenderanno la vita stasera
