guantanamo a picture is worth 1000 words

Written and first performed in Cuba by an international group of music tourists, after learning about the history of US occupation from their Cuban hosts, on their journey from Santiago near Guantanamo Bay to Havana.
close guantanamo now

Guantanamo Will Be Free
Guantanamo..– I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo – I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light

Many times we rose to win our freedom
A hundred years or more till victory
But it will not be complete till the invader
Is driven from his fortress by the sea..

Guantanamo – I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo – I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light

From Ensendido and Bahia Puerto
To Cayamo and Sierra del Maguey
Hearts speak with emotion so clearly
Uncle Sam, why don't you go away?

Guantanamo – I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo – I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light.

Guantanamo – I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo, I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light

See them serve big burgers to their soldiers
See them serve up murder far and wide
This place belongs to Cuban people
Now is the time to turn the tide.

Guantanamo – I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo – I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light

Obama, you know that your own people
Don't want to occupy it anymore
It's just another useless symbol
Of just another useless foreign war.

Guantanamo – I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo – I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light.

When the goats are dead upon the mountain
Then the mountain will be free just as before
And there will be dancing and laughter
Changui will see the sun shine once more.

Guantanamo – I want to see you
They stole you like pirates in the night
Guantanamo – I want to free you
And walk your sweeping shore in the morning light.

Guantanamo will be free,
Guantanamo will be free..

Guantanamo will be free,
Guantanamo will be free...
