L'opera rock "Tommy" degli Who un concept album basato sulla storia di un ragazzo nato alla fine della prima guerra mondiale (nella versione cinematografica del 1975, invece, la trama si svolge alla fine della seconda guerra mondiale), che diviene sordo, cieco e muto. Pete Townshend mescola nella canzone iniziale la gioia per la nascita del bambino con il dolore per la notizia che il padre, il capitano Walker, è disperso in guerra.
