"Questo frammento è quello riportato anche nella ballata numero 201 di Child: le due fanciulle si costruirono una capanna rudimentale su un colle (ovvero riadattarono un capanno di caccia detto Burn Braes nei dintorni di Lednock), ma furono comunque raggiunte dalla peste (forse perchè già infette). I loro corpi invece di essere sepolti al cimitero stanno a disfarsi sotto il sole… immagine cruda e crudele eppure così realistica rispetto ai cupi tempi della pestilenza! [C.S.]
