Capolavoro del grande pianista jazz Oscar Emmanuel Peterson, detto semplicemente O.P., canadese ma figlio di genitori immigrati dai Caraibi.
Nel suo disco intitolato “Night Train”, pubblicato nel 1963, con Ray Brown al contrabbasso e Edmund Thigpen alla batteria.
“Hymn To Freedom” è il brano che chiude l'album.
Un inno alla libertà di una chiarezza e semplicità sconvolgenti, nonostante il virtuosismo della scrittura e dell'esecuzione.
Sulla copertina, realizzata dal fotografo Pete Turner, la motrice di un treno in corsa, un'immagine da sempre così importante ed evocativa per tutti quelli – come i neri d'America - allora come oggi in cerca del cambiamento e della libertà.
