Donald Trump Makes Me Wanna Smoke Crack

Money, money
Money on my mind
Money, money
Money on your mind [1]
To the boats we're all criminals here
And that big wall is the new frontier

Well, Donald Trump makes me wanna smoke crack
Go to Canada[2] and never come back
Where you gone
Betty Friedan?[6]
Where you gone
Gore Vidal?[7]

Money, money
Money on my mind
Money, money
Money on your mind
To the boats we're all immigrants here
And that big wall is the new frontier[3]

Hold up, hold up
Let me off
Hold up, hold up
This train won't stop
Hold up, hold up
Let me off
Hold up, hold up
This train won't stop

Middle finger in the air
If you're feeling like I
Middle finger in the air
If you're feeling like I do
Feeling like I do
If you're feeling like I do
Feeling like I do[4]

Money, money
Money on my mind
Money, money
Money on your mind
To the boats
We're all immigrants here
And that big wall is the new frontier

I said, Donald Trump makes me wanna smoke crack
Go to Canada and never come back
Where you gone
Betty Friedan?
Where you gone
Gore Vidal?[5]

Middle finger in the air
If you're feeling like I
Middle finger in the air
If you're feeling like I do
Feeling like I do
If you're feeling like I do
Feeling like I do
[1] The whole song is about what capitalism has done to this country. It’s kind of a stupid line, but money is such a big part of our lives. It feels like most people are a bit enslaved by the concept of money and that’s how you show love and that’s how you define if someone is a success or not.

[2] The whole smoking crack thing is more a symbol of your desperation. It’s the feeling of giving up in my world more than about actually smoking crack. I don’t hate Donald Trump but he’s a symbol of the regression going on. America used to be on the forefront of a lot of important subjects like civil rights and feminism, and that’s why I included the Gore Vidal and Betty Friedan lines.

[3] Of course it has to do with the wall Donald Trump wants to build. The new frontier used to be the wild west and the moon and now we’re looking to close the country down and build a wall. The whole concept of America is that it’s the new world and people should come here, contribute and be part of the American dream. It just feels like the discussion now is the opposite. It’s about America being a new chance for society, where people can be different and still live integrated. That’s what makes me love this country and that’s what the song is about: the debate is opposite of where it was before.

[4] I’d greet Donald Trump with my middle finger. I don’t hate Donald Trump. I think his TV show was funny and he’s a funny character in his own ways, but the things he says are not funny and it’s not on a funny level anymore because there’s actually a chance we’re about to give him 500 nukes. I don’t know how many nukes, but one is enough. That’s a very depressing, scary thought. The song is more about what he symbolizes more than the person; if it wasn’t Donald Trump, it’d be someone else.

[5] They’ve always been an inspiration for me. They symbolize what’s great about America. Gore Vidal was trying to push this country in direction where people were open to each other’s differences. And Betty Friedan gave birth in a lot of ways to the mobile feminist discussion. Where are those people in my generation? They’re out there but not in the public forum like they should be. The big artists of today, like the Taylor Swifts of today, I think they don’t really take the opportunity they have to be vocal about everything bad going on right now. This line is a call to arms. I hope more athletes and more artists will say something, but right now it feels like it’s so much about self-fulfillment and so little about our society as a whole.
