The Widow of the Fallen Soldier

I tracked the path of an atom, I heard the whisper of the stars
I felt my heart grow bolder and bolder..
I had a strange conversation in an airport bar
With the widow of a fallen soldier.

« I waited for him until the swallows returned,
I waited for him by the water.
There's a fire in my heart where my love for him burns »
Said the widow of the fallen soldier..

I sat there so quietly, so undisturbed
As the night grew colder and colder
« Have you looked, have you listened, have you seen, have you heard? »
Said the widow of the fallen soldier.

« I waited for him 'till his wounds were all healed,
I waited for him by the water..
Everyone is beautiful on the battlefield »
Said the widow of the fallen soldier.

It was then that I finally broke down and cried
I buried my face in her shoulder..
« Every dead bird leaves a hole in the sky »
Said the widow of the fallen soldier

«I waited for him since the world was new,
I waited for him by the water
It's sure been a pleasure talking to you»
Said the widow of the fallen soldier.
