Fonte:Il porto ritrovato
A volte i salici cantano sottovoce
oggi piangono Roger, Roger McClure.

Ancora bambino dovevi lottare

- Ehi, ragazzo, attento a te
te la faremo pagare! -
Gridarono gli uomini vestiti di blu
- Sappiamo il tuo nome: sei Roger McClure! -

Sometimes the willows sing softly
along the rivers' banks
they tell the story of whom is no longer here.
Today they're crying for Roger, Roger McClure.

As a child you had to struggle
against destiny and hunger.
you arrived in Dublin on fot from the south
alone with your name: Roger McClure.

A wild flower grown up this way
without an advice, a shelter
you were the son of everyone and of no one
your name was Roger, Roger McClure.

Neither your mother's care nor your father's advice
your home was a ruined pub
you used to sleep down there with your young band
your name was Roger, Roger McClure.

A wild flower grown this way
between the rubbish and the street
your youth was made of thefts and robberies
your name was Roger, Roger McClure.

- Hey, boy, beware
we'll get back at you! -
The blue-dressed men shouted
- We know your name: you're Roger McClure! -

A wild flower grown this way
without a love, a shelter
you were the son of everyone and of no one
your name was Roger, Roger McClure.
One night he was arrested and then lynched.
Your name was Roger, Roger McClure
your name was Roger, Roger McClure.
