Lyrics & Music by Floyd 'Red Crow' Westerman and Curtis
Album: Custer Died For Your Sins
My soul is in the mountain, my heart is in that land
But I'm lost here in the city, there's so much I don't understand
And this Quite Desperation -is coming over me, -coming over me

I gotta leave I can't stay another day
There's emptiness inside of me..
I can't bear the loneliness out here
There's another place I've gotta be..
There's another place I've gotta be.

I gotta leave I can't stay another day
There's emptiness inside of me..
I can't bear the loneliness out here
There's another place I've gotta be..
Another place I've gotta be.

Now I long for you Dakota now the sweet grass is on the plain
I see too much meanness, I feel too much pain
And this Quite Desperation -coming over me.. coming over me.

I gotta leave I can't stay another day
There's emptiness inside of me
I can't bear the loneliness out here
There's another place I've gotta be..
There's another place I've gotta be.

I was looking for the meaning behind Quiet Desperation lyrics. I am writing a book on a choir who were drawn originally from homelessness. There was a documentary on the choir in Nov. 2014. I am now writing their story. Music has saved their lives. I am giving each chapter the title of a song. I was going to use the title Quiet Desperation . The choir have sang this song. They have sang it with a very famous Irish Folk singer Christy Moore. It is a very beautiful song. Can I use the title? I will acknowledge whatever you wish me to do. I am donating all the proceeds of my book to keep the choir going. They have found COVID very difficult.
Thank you. Cathy McCarthy, Dublin Ireland
