La canzone di Lluís Llach è l'adattamento di una canzone tradizionale di Natale.
Anche alla canzone originale è associato un messaggio di pace, infatti è stata suonata alle Nazioni Unite il 24 ottobre 1971 dal violoncellista catalano Pau Casals.

La canzone popolare originale è diventata un simbolo di pace grazie alla storica interpretazione del violoncellista Pau Casals. Probabilmente per questo, Llach ha deciso di riscrivere il testo nel 1994 dedicandolo ai bambini della Bosnia.
