Teresa HealyTeresa Healy is a singer, a songwriter, a poet and a writer. She has been singing since she was a girl around camp-fires and kitchen-ceilighs, at folk-masses and weddings, in political demonstrations of a few and rallies of thousands, in pubs in Ireland, at labour schools in the United States, and on top of mountains in Mexico.
Teresa is a member of Ottawa's Writers’ Bloc, a songwriting co-operative. She studies composition with Michael Leibson. Teresa has sung her songs to a packed house at the St. Patrick’s Day fundraiser for the Canal workers’ Memorial, and opened for David Francey on Labour Day as part of TRIA, along with her sister Anne Healy, and friend Paula Fletcher. She often can be found singing traditional Irish songs at events and fundraisers around the region.

In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the "Person’s Case", Teresa has written 4 new pieces to accompany Ruth in the telling of the story of Emily Murphy. This story explores the contributions this great activist made to women’s struggles in the early part of the 20th century. It also brings to light some of the contradictions of Canadian society during a time when established British and Irish immigrants began to encounter immigrants from Central Europe and Asia.
Teresa works for the Canadian Union of Public Employees as a researcher on national social and economic issues, and post-secondary education. She has a doctorate from Carleton University in political science and has written and taught many courses on issues of peace, equality and social justice.
