Songwriter ("I Want a Girl Just Like the Girl That Married Dear Old Dad"), author, composer, actor and businessman, educated at Cortland Normal School. He appeared in medicine shows, minstrel shows and in vaudeville, and acted in many plays, and toured the USA and London with a Harry Lauder unit, finally retiring in 1912 to become a building constructor, theatre owner and head of a finance company. He was a charter member of ASCAP, and collaborated musically with Harry Von Tilzer, Albert Von Tilzer, Henry Tobias and Harry Tobias. His other popular-song compositions include "My Little Girl", "All Alone", "Don't Take My Darling Boy Away", and "Keep Right on Until the End of the Road".

William Austin Dillon (November 6, 1877–February 10, 1966) was an American songwriter and Vaudevillian. He is best known as the lyricist for the song "I Want a Girl (Just Like the Girl That Married Dear Old Dad)" (1911), written in collaboration with Harry Von Tilzer. It can be heard in Show Business (1944) and The Jolson Story (1946). He was born in Cortland, New York and performed in Vaudeville with his brothers John and Harry.
