Arroyo DeathmatchGenre: Flamenco / Folk / Punk

Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States.

Arroyo Deathmatch has put out 4 albums and gone on 3 tours in a year and a half. They have a constantly revolving line-up of musicians and have featured ukulele, accordion, flute, cello, mandolin, violin, dulcimer, guitar, banjo, and washboard. Anchored out of northern New Mexico and widely known for passionate performances which are often structured in a non-hierarchic manner, they put forth a message of passion for one's own community, belief in oneself, and accountability and freedom for all. They play without any amplification of any kind, regardless of the circumstances, finding joy in the stressed sounds of acoustic instruments played loudly. Come out to a show and sing your heart out. ...... .."Folk-punk with heart and balls"-The Trunk Space.. .."Do you see the feet dancing in the sand and the sun? There over there? Teeth as toe nails and a caterpillar keeping the beat with a knife? Oh. That must be Arroyo Deathmatch. A local Albuquerque band with mean strings and a flute as a mountainous second voice. And hey, they ride bikes. A round of applause for folk-punk at its finest. The lyrics are something in itself, with a voice like a Florida orange that smokes too many cigarettes reciting them. Ukulele, violin, guitar, and cello creates the image of a cackling Steppenwolf hanging onto the coattails of beautiful sound. In essence, Arroyo Deathmatch has soul, and soul is dead, but soul never dies. Fill up your lungs, stare at the sun, and turn this album on."-Julia in Bikecult Issue 1..
