2009 - Rondon brothers, Al & Andy (rhythm section for HR, of Bad Brains, as well as LA band, Love Tunnel), look to Dean Pleasants (Suicidal Tendencies/Infectious Grooves) for guitar assistance on an independent record creation and found something special in the collaboration. Chemistry clicked, grooves and musical ideas were effortless to create, and soon, a funky, riff-oriented set of songs were quickly crafted. For a little added crunch, Dean invited Suicidal band mate, Mike Clark onboard the recording sessions and proved to be a good contribution to the blend of finished music. With recording completed, a proper meeting over brews and pizza at the local watering hole (Chimney Sweep) a few exchanges of band name ideas, and BLAM, new band: Sunny Liston. As the lead vocal was recorded by Al, the need for a drummer became obvious which resulted in finding drummer-extraordinaire (monster) Andy Sanesi, (who hasn't he played with?), a NY uproot but now, a very at-home Angeleno.
Dean's "Hendrixy" influence and mastery on the fret board, the added buzz-saw militant style of Mike Clark, a solid pocket/groove rhythm section from Andy Rondon/Andy Sanesi, all topped off by Al Rondon's rhythmical vocal style; make Sunny Liston a band to look out for. So Look out!
What started off as just a recording session turned into a band..Dean Pleasants of suicidal tendencies an infectious grooves originator..called his band mate Mike Clark to join in on the fun...3 weeks later the catillist for Sunny Liston was born..Oh yes the Rondon Brothers Al and Andy from HR of Bad Brains other band Human Rights..recruting a great drummer in Andy Sanesi..the band was completed....now there ready to ROCK THIS NEW SOUND...
