Transcript from an Interview with Electric Belly Dance.

In 2002- 2003 while working on material with mutual friend and past band mate of Carter’s A.Bina for his upcoming release, DJ Etienne Carter (Paris, France) and G.Glover (Minneapolis, MN, USA) began collaborating on what is now Known as the Un-united CD. The process was simplicity itself. Carter would go home to his basement studio and pound out groove after infectious groove and melody. Carter would then hand over the music to Glover who would then Churn out vocalizations and Lyrics that he believed matched the mood of the music. It was this process that lead to the Anthem like “Bombing over Baghdad” which was ironically Penned 4 months prior to the Actual US bombing of Iraq. On other occasions Glover would come up with beats and melodies which he would give to Carter to evolve into songs like the Beautifully crafted “Until the Moon becomes your face” While very easy to listen and dance to, the CD does have a very dark tone from the catchy “Men and Women” to the Albert Camus Inspired “Never again” and the incredibly dark “I hope you die in Car accident” even the title "Un-United "has something Ironic bout it. Higher Ground a tribute to Hip hop,Hybrid, and the Techno Industrial “Forever more” also stand out as strange mixes of very different styles and influences. "Each song is totally different", Glover says, "the styles and themes are all over the place almost Schizophrenic, not a lot of cohesion and I think that’s the point". "That regardless of what rhetoric is going on out there I believe that mankind and more specifically this country is more disconnected from each other than ever before. Everyone appears to be marching to their own drummer and there will be consequences, there always Are". Un- United will be released in Summer of 2004 God willing..

Why this name?

One of our friends suggested it at a Dinner party.

Do you play live?

If the opportunity arose we could put together a collection of musicians that could tour.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

We want people to hear our music and like it, that is the number one priority. We are making it available on the internet so we understand the risks but it’s worth it. If people like us we ask that they help support us by actually buying the CD, complete with the packaging, liner notes, artwork as well as the other EBD merchandise at ElectricBellyDance.net (Shameless Plug) That’s what is going to allow us to continue" .
Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

Of Course
