In the morning he would raise them with a song | E la mattina li faceva alzare con una canzone |

Now in Salt Lake City a murder was made | Ora, a Salt Lake City [8] fu commesso un omicidio, |
There was hardly a clue to find | E proprio non si trovava un indizio. |
Oh, the proof was poor, but the sheriff was sure | Le prove erano poche, ma lo sceriffo era sicuro |
Joe was the killer of the crime | Che fosse Joe l'assassino in quel delitto, |
That Joe was the killer of the crime | Che fosse Joe l'assassino in quel delitto. |

Joe raised his hands but they shot him down | Joe si arrese, ma loro gli spararono, |
he had nothing but guilt to give | Non aveva altro da dare che una colpevolezza. |

He made it 'cause he had the will to live | Lo faceva perché aveva voglia di vivere, |
Yes, He made it 'cause he had the will to live | Lo faceva perché aveva voglia di vivere. |

Then the trial was held in a building of wood | Il processo si tenne in una costruzione in legno |
And there the killer would be named | Dove l'assassino avrebbe avuto un nome. |
And the days weighed more than the cold copper ore | E i giorni pesavano più del freddo minerale di rame |
Cause he feared that he was being framed | Perché aveva paura che lo stessero incastrando, |
Cause he found out that he was being framed | Perché aveva paura che lo stessero incastrando. |

Oh, strange are the ways of western law | Oh, strane sono le vie della legge là nell'Ovest, |

Say wherever you go in this fair land | E dovunque andiate in questo bel Paese, |

- it.wikipedia
Alcuni sostengono che siano state il celeberrimo slogan: Don't mourn for me...organize!; altri sostengono che siano state quest'augurio di buona fortuna.
