THE GREAT LEAP FORWARDS | IL GRANDE BALZO IN AVANTI |
2003 revised lyrics | testo riveduto e corretto (2003) |
| |
It might have been Camelot for Jack and Jacqueline | Può essere stata una Camelot per Jack e Jacqueline |
But on the Che Guevara highway filling up with gasoline | Ma sull'autostrada “Che Guevara”, facendo il pieno di benzina, |
Donald Rumsfeld’s brother spies a rich lady who’s crying | Il fratello di Donald Rumsfeld vede una ricca signora che piange |
Over luxury’s disappointments, | Dalla delusione di non averci il lusso |
so he walks over and he’s trying to sympathize with her | E allora le si avvicina a piedi tentando di simpatizzare con lei, |
But he thinks he should warn her that the B-52’s are flying | ma pensa che dovrebbe avvertirla che i B52 sono in volo |
| |
In the former Soviet Union the citizens demand | Nell'ex-URSS i cittadini chiedono di sapere |
To know why they’re still the target of Strategic Air Command | Perché sono ancora sotto tiro del Comando Strategico dell'Aviazione |
And they shake their fists in anger and respectfully suggest | E agitano i pugni incazzati facendo rispettosi suggerimenti |
We take the money from our missiles | Leviamo i soldi dai missili |
and spend it on our hospitals instead | E spendiamoli in ospedali, piuttosto |
| |
The Cold War is over, but the stakes are getting higher | La Guerra Fredda è finita, ma s'innalzano roghi [1] sempre più alti |
I’m frightened of collateral damage and of friendly fire | Ho paura dei danni collaterali e del fuoco amico |
And I don’t believe we can defeat no axis of evil | E non credo che possiamo sconfiggere alcun asse del male |
By putting smart bombs in the hands of dumb people | Mettendo bombe intelligenti in mano a gente ottusa [2] |
| |
Mixing pop and politics, they ask me what the use is | Mescolare pop e politica, mi chiedono a cosa serve |
I offer them my acupuncturist and my masseuses | Io offro loro il mio agopunturista e le mie massaggiatrici |
While looking down the corridor out to where my bus is waiting | Mentre, guardando giù nel corridoio dove mi sta aspettando il furgone |
I’m looking for the new world order… | Cerco il nuovo ordine globale... |
| |
Jumble sales are organized, all my mates got fat, | Si organizzano pésche di beneficienza, tutti i miei compagni sono ingrassati |
Even after all this time, you can still send me a fax | E dopo tutto questo tempo mi puoi ancora mandare un fax |
You can be active with the activists or sleeping with the Major | Puoi fare attività fra gli attivisti o dormire con un pezzo grosso [3] |
While you’re waiting for the great leap forwards | Mentre stai aspettando il Grande Balzo in Avanti |
| |
And it’s one leap forward, two leaps back | Un balzo in avanti, due balzi all'indietro, |
Who gave Hugo Chavez the sack? | Chi è che ha liquidato Hugo Chávez? |
Waiting for the great leap forward | Aspettando il Grande Balzo in Avanti, |
And it’s two leaps forward, one leap back | Due balzi in avanti, un balzo all'indietro |
Look out Hugo Chavez is back | Guardate un po', rieccolo Hugo Chávez |
Waiting for the great leap forwards | Che aspetta il Grande Balzo in Avanti |
| |
In a perfect world we all sing in tune | In un mondo perfetto tutti cantiamo intonati |
But their ain’t nobody that can sing like me | Ma non c'è nessuno che sappia cantare come me |
Waiting for the great leap forwards | Aspettando il Grande Balzo in Avanti |
| |
Well here comes the future | Ecco che arriva il futuro |
And you can’t run from it | E tu non puoi sfuggirgli |
If you’ve got a tattoo, I want to be on it | Se hai un tatuaggio, io ci voglio essere |
Waiting for the great leap forwards | Aspettando il Grande Balzo in Avanti |
| |
So join the struggle while you may | E allora lotta con noi finché puoi |
The revolution is just a flyer’s place away | La rivoluzione dista solo un volantino |
Waiting for the great leap forwards | Aspettando il Grande Balzo in Avanti |
