[2] Si noti l’uso smodato nella canzone di “old”: la mula dev’essere senz’altro oramai vecchia, è una “vecchia amica” ecc., ma di converso il battelliere la chiama di continuo anche “gal” (ragazza). Una connotazione affettiva e affettuosa molto bella.
[3] Qualche incertezza sul verso She put the “Buff” in Buffalo. Ho preso Buff per un termine slang dal significato di “grande forza fisica”, “muscolatura”, ecc. e ho tradotto quindi un po’ ad sensum, ma potrebbe benissimo trattarsi di una traduzione ad cazzum. Attendo altre proposte.
