 Tuomari Nurmio

Here's another view of the Middle East madness by Tuomari Nurmio from his 1982 album »Punainen planeetta« (The Red Planet).
Herra Varma asustaa
varmassa kaupungissa
kauppiaiden talossa
varmassa valtiossa

Hän avaa aina samoja
varmoja ovia
varmoilla avaimillaan
varmassa maailmassaan

Neljä naista ratsastaa
kalpeana aamuna
halki kuivan erämaan
kohti kaupunkia

Kauppiaiden talossa
pilarien varjossa
he vahvistavat valansa
ja heittävät kranaatit saliin

Heidän vaatteilleen sataa verta
Kun räjähdys vaimenee
kaikki nuo arvokkaat vieraat
ovat kuolleet ja silpoutuneet

Herra on ilman päätä
ja hänen vaimonsa vaikertaa
kadonnutta pikku kättään
joka piteli piirakkaa

Halleluja, Siionin tyttäret
tulivat ja tappoivat jokaisen
Nuku rauhassa, muinainen Jerusalem
olet nähnyt jo kaiken
me tiedämme sen

Kuolevaiset katsokaa
heidän valkoisia vaatteitaan
Kaikesta huolimatta
ne ovat tahrattomat

Halleluja, Siionin tyttäret
tulivat ja tappoivat jokaisen
Nuku rauhassa, muinainen Jerusalem
olet nähnyt jo kaiken
me tiedämme sen
Nuo mystiset sotilaat
sotkevat naamansa
halvalla puuterilla
ja istuvat lasisen kuution sisään
ja nousevat korkeuksiin
He puhuvat suurista tehtävistään
joista kukaan ei käsitä mitään
ja jättävät palavat kaupungit taakseen
ja vaipuvat huokauksiin

THE DAUGHTERS OF ZION

Mr Secure is living
in a secure town
in a house of merchants
in a secure state

He keeps opening
secure doors
with his secure keys
in his secure world

Four women are riding
on a pale morning
through a dry desert
towards the town

In the house of merchants
in the shade of columns
they renew their vow
and throw the grenades in the hall

Blood rains on their clothes
and when the explosion fades
all those distinguished guests
are dead and mutilated

Mr Secure lies decapitated
and his wife wails for
her lost little hand
that held the pasty

Hallelujah, the daughters of Zion
came and killed everyone
Rest in peace, ancient Jerusalem
you have seen it all
and we know that

Mortals, look at
their white clothes
Despite everything
they are stainless

Hallelujah, the daughters of Zion
came and killed everyone
Rest in peace, ancient Jerusalem
you have seen it all
and we know that

Those mystical soldiers
smudge their faces
with cheap powder
and sitting inside of a glass cube
they rise into heights
They talk about their great missions
of which nobody understands anything
and leave behind the burning towns
and fall into sighs
