Seventy Virgins refers to the fantasy that suicide bombers believe, that they will be martyrs, greeted in Heaven by 70 virgins. The song lays out the crisis in the Middle East and how all sides base their actions on some sort of fantasy.
The song was written after seeing Pakistani rock band, Junoon. They're known all over the world for their activism for peace between India and Pakistan and are speaking out on the issues of the post Sept. 11 situation.
A blue sky is dripping red
A sea of oil anoints the dead
Tell me again, what's that you said?
Who is that you're paying?

I hear somebody praying
The innocents will foot the bill
The guilty aren't speaking
The God of greed is the son of the man
This was not some cosmic plan..

(Chorus:) Seventy virgins in the sky,
Seventy virgins in the sky,
Seventy virgins in the sky
A tank full of gas ... and a plane to fly.

Tithing in the church of fear
The muezzins grin, the rabbis cheer
Yeah, Say again, where it's in the book
About that girl you're flogging
And that land you're hogging.
The innocents will foot the bill
The guilty aren't speaking
The God of Hate is the son of the man
This was not some cosmic plan.

(CHORUS:) Seventy virgins in the sky
Seventy virgins in the sky
Seventy virgins in the sky
A tank full of gas ... and a plane to fly…

Sweet revenge for the chosen son
Wave the flag, Salute the gun…
Yeah, Tell me again, what's that you said?
What is it you're hiding?
The news you're not providing
The innocents will foot the bill
The guilty aren't speaking
The God of War is the son of the man
This is not some cosmic plan.

(CHORUS:) An S.U.V. and a rockin' band
An S.U.V. and a rockin' band
An S.U.V. and a rockin' band
A tank full of gas ... and Disneyland.
