Maralinga è una regione dell'Australia meridionale abitata dai Maralinga Tjarutja, un gruppo dell'etnia aborigena Pitjantjatjara.
Tra il 1955 e il 1963, il governo inglese realizzò in quell'area sette test nucleari. Nel 1967 una commissione cominciò a studiare gli effetti delle radiazioni sul territorio e sui nativi. Nel 1985 veniva rilevata ancora una concentrazione molto alta di radioattività. Solo nel 2000 fu completata la bonifica della zona, che venne restituita ai suoi abitanti originari insieme ad un indennizzo di 13.5 milioni di dollari.
