’70年代後半よりReggaeをはじめる。 78年頃レゲエバンド、クブンズ、スカ バンド、カスにギターとして参加。 独自にDub 日本語DJを製作。 79年東京吉祥寺にできた日本初のレゲエ専門ショップNatty Dreadを拠点とするNatty Dread Band にドラマーとして参加。六本木のディスコ等でバンドライブやDJ。 82年レゲエ専門誌「Strictly Rockers-訳詩でみるレゲエの世界」出版。 83年東京吉祥寺の日本初のレゲエスタジオNatty Studioにスタッフとして参加。 Dub Mixerとして当時の日本のレゲエバンドほとんどを手がける。 スタジオオーナーのカーボーとRankin’Soldiers結成。 PJのソニーからのメジャーデビューにさいし”Show Mi Your Love”提供。 (後に琴音が歌い継ぎ「命の祭り」のテーマ曲ともなり、さらに同曲を”Someday”と変えてメジャーデビュー。) 84年N.Y.のWackiesレーベルよりRankin’ Soldiersとして日本人初のDJ、Dubレコードを発表。85年、Natty Studio閉鎖後はI-Pan Dread, Nishida, Nezumi、Takumi等と共にRoots Playersとして全国ツアー。東京青山のTools’ Bar,Bubblin’DubといったクラブでレギュラーDJ。 レゲエ専門誌「Irie Times]出版。 87年東京四谷のサウンド・ターミナルより「Message From Bob Marley - ボブ・マーレー訳詩集」出版。 88年長野県安曇野にRoots Studio開設。レゲエ専門レーベルZion High Records設立。 89年よりZion High PlayerzのメンバーとRebel Roots結成、「命の祭り」を軸に全国ツアー。(タレントの石田壱成も2年間在籍。)90年全国ネットのラジオ番組「Zion X’press」でメインDJ。91年リタ・マーリーに呼ばれてジャマイカにてEarl ”Chinna” Smith, Santa Davis等とレコーディング。 96年Zion High Recordsより ”Riddim Rockers With Sister Kaya/Natural Meeting” ”Japan Love Reggae Music Vol.1/V.A.”発表。 Zion High Playerzと全国ツアー。 97年Marcyの7インチシングル”Memory Of Love”、 ”Streets Of Gold” ”Chant Jah Rastafari”発表。 98年”Japan Love Reggae Music Vol.2/V.A.”発表。 2001年”Secret Stone/Marcy”発表。 この頃より白馬を中心にRub-A-Dubライブ「Zion Hi-Fi」を展開、人気を博す。 さらに、Dubsensemaniaのプリプロを手がけ、彼等のメジャーデビューに手を貸す。2004年”No Cry/Gee Tea”発表。 ”Zion Hi-Fi Special/Papa I-ya & Marcy”発表。 収録曲”縄文Stylee”がヒット。話題になる。2006年”Zion High Flex Showcase/V.A.” ”Zion High Drum Song Showcase/V.A.” ”Zion High Guidance Showcase/V.A.”発表。 2008年、Natty Studio 25th Anniversary、"Big Chalice Dub /Japanese Legendary Dub From Natty Studio 1984"発表。 Roots Studio 20th Anniversaryとして、"Zion High Playerz with Gee 2wo / 999 Jam at Roots Studio"、"V.A. / Beautiful Life Showcase", "V.A. / Takara-Underground Showcase" , "V.A. / kecha Fire!!!", "Papa I-ya Bonz / Ougon no Taiyou (Golden Sun)"発表。

Japanese reggae originator from Nagano, JP, creator since late '70s.
Singer, DJ, instrumental player, songwriter, producer, dub-master, writer and selector who have introduced reggae music to Japan with the books "Strictly Rockers - world of reggae rylics" (1982), "Irie Times"(1985/87), "Message From Bob Marley"(1987) and radio programs "Zion X'press"(1990).

In 1979, he joined ska band called Kas, and reggae band called Kubunzu as a guitar player. 1980, he joined Natty Dread Band as a drummer and played many club in Tokyo. In 1983, he joined Natty Studio (1st reggae studio in Japan) in Tokyo as a dub-mixer, and he mixed almost reggae bands in Japan at the concert or in the studio, middle of the '80s. In 1984, he released 1st Japanese DJ record from Wackies NY in Rankin' Soldiers name. And he also wrote a debuet song for PJ & Cool Runnings (1st Japanese majer reggae band released from CBS SONY). In 1988 he open Roots Studio in Nagano. And he had many tours with no.1 Japanese roots reggae band called Zion High Playerz (Rebel Roots). In 1991, he recorded with High Times Band (Earl "Chinna" Smith, Carlton "Santa "Davis, Christopher Meredith, etc..) in Kingston, Jamaica. 1996 he released V.A.album "Japan Love Reggae Music Vol.1" (Zion High Records) the title number written by Earl "Chinna" Smith for Papa I-ya Bonz, backed by Zion High Playerz. In 1998, he produced V.A.album "Japan Love Reggae Music Vol.2". In 2001, he produced Marcy's 1st album "Secret Stone". And he also pre-produced the Dub Band Dubsensemania. In 2004, He produced and released Gee Tea's 1st album "No Cry", and "Papa I-ya & Marcy / Zion Hi-Fi Special", including hit song "Jomon Stylee (Original Japanese Roots & Culture Stylee)" that is impacted to worldwide audience. In 2006, he released 3 one way V.A.albums titled "Flex Showcase", "Drum Song Showcase", and "Guidance Showcase". In 2008, he released "Big Chalice Dub /Japanese Legendary Dub From Natty Studio 1984", "Zion High Playerz with Gee 2wo / 999 Jam at Roots Studio" , and one way mini albums "V.A. / Beautiful Life Showcase", "V.A. / Takara-Underground Showcase" , "V.A. / kecha Fire!!!", "Papa I-ya Bonz / Ougon no Taiyou (Golden Sun)".
