Transcript from an Interview with Atomgrad

Why this name?

The town I grew up in is where the material and the brains behind the bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima come from. All the original work was done here and then transfered over to America for the creation of the bombs.

The Russian name for any town near a nuclear power station or test site is Atomgrad.

Do you play live?

Not yet.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?

It's blown everything wide open. Gone are the days when you had to have a record released or had to gig constantley to get your stuff heard, now it can all be done at a click of a button.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?

They wouldn't have me. My music is not radio/mtv friendly.

Your influences?

Public Enemy, Lenny Dee, T99, Delta 9, Ruffneck Aliiance, The DJ Producer, Hellfish, The Speed Freak, DJ Chosen Few, Grandmaster Melle Mel, Stu Allan, Acen, The Prodigy, The Noize Junkie, Bazooka, Altern8, Eric B and Rakim, All my firiends over at Darkstep.org.

My tracks could be Hardcore, Drum n Bass, Hip Hop or a mish mash of any of them.

Equipment used:

At the moment, a crappy pc, Ableton 7 and Goldwave.

Anything else...?

I make whatever music I feel like making at that moment, it may be a Hardcore Techno track, it may be Drum n Bass or it may be Hip Hop. Sometimes I don't even know what kind of tune its going to be until I'm halfway through it. It doesn't matter to me, I like all these styles, so I make them, my way.
